NFTs are, ultimately, collectibles. When I thought of making a collectible, my mind immediately went to bottle caps.
Collecting bottle caps have a long, rich history. The origins of the bottle cap we know it started in 1890 with William Painter. Painter came up with a one-time use cap with a cork lining he called crown cork since it resembled the British Queen's crown. This type of bottle cap is still in wide use today by the beer industry.
Ever since William Painter made the first bottle cap in 1892, people have been collecting beer bottle caps. There are many different styles with some collectors choosing to specialize in one certain style while others choose to collect those from a particular region or era.
Bottle caps inspire creative works of arts and crafts.
Aside from the environmental benefits of recycling bottle caps, in most cases, steel bottle caps are between 5 cents and 9 cents per piece. Aluminium of food-grade quality, however, is worth up to 35 to 45 cents per unit.
