BAYC’s Dookey Dash Is Live: A Look Into the Endless Sewer Hole
Dookey Dash is BAYC's skill-based game where your Ape runs endlessly in a sewer for as long. Let's unravel what's in it for players.
Frenzy feelings in the NFT space as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) of Yuga Labs releases the anticipated Dookey Dash mint. Dookey Dash is a skill-based game where your Ape runs endlessly in a sewer for as long as it can until you lose as the game advances in difficulty. According to Yuga Labs' official press release, your mission as a player is to "get in the sewer to dodge and break through obstacles as you pick up items called fragments."
Players require a special NFT, the Sewer Pass to access the game. And players with the Sewer Pass can play the game continuously to earn rewards until February 8, 2023, when points will stop accruing.
BAYC's parent company, Yuga Labs, released the Sewer Pass on January 17, 2023, but says only holders of BAYC and MAYC (Mutant Ape Yacht Club) will have access to a free Sewer Pass each. Each holder will only have to pay a gas fee to claim their free pass.
However, the public (non-BYAC and non-MAYC holders) can buy the Sewer Pass from holders on marketplaces like OpenSea and X2Y2. So anyone can play the addictive Dookey Dash as long as they hold a Sewer Pass.
As of the time of writing, the Sewer Pass NFT has a 2.2 Eth floor on OpenSea and 2.07 Eth on X2Y2.
For holders of BAYC and MAYC, the NFT company says they can access the free claim of their Sewer Pass via a domain it released in its January 18 tweet.
However, every holder gets a fair share, as claiming early doesn't have any benefit. The only advantage of early claiming or buying is that you are in the game early enough to gather points. The firm further says free claimers have until February 8, 2023, when the game ends, to claim the free pass.
What Is in It for Players Once the One-Month Game Ends?
While Dookey Dash will only run for a month, it's not the end for players. Their Sewer Passes can transform into something new post-play time—if they hold their passes until February 15 and have gathered points greater than zero. We aren't sure yet what Sewer Passes will transform into, as the firm is yet to release further information on the transformation process.
